Campaign Team of Presidential Candidate Dr. Abdullah Abdullah Attacked in Ghazni Province

The enemies of peace and democracy in Afghanistan once again attacked members of the campaign team of 2014 Afghan Presidential Candidate Dr. Abdullah in Ghazni province, in an attempt to hinder the campaign activities of the "Reform and Unanimity Team".

On Wednesday morning, March 5, an explosive device planted on a bicycle detonated while targeting the convoy of campaign members of Presidential Candidate Dr. Abdullah, in particular Mr. Mahmoud Gilaini, head of the campaign team in Ghazni province. The attack, which damaged several vehicles belonging to campaign members, was unable to prevent the opening of the campaign office.

While condemning the cowardice attack, the "Reform and Unanimity" campaign team also calls on relevant Afghan Government security institutions to bring the perpetrators of the attack to justice, and also ensure an appropriate security environment for the electoral process.

Such attacks will in no way be able to undermine the will of the Afghan people to participate in the democratic process and determine their future political destiny.
